All students at Sunshine Primary School attend a weekly hour session of Music. These sessions combine listening, performing and composing activities and explore the musical elements of Beat and Rhythm, Pitch and Melody, Form, Dynamics, Tempo, Tone Colour, Texture and Style. Students are introduced to a variety of percussion instruments and learn basic playing techniques such as tapping, shaking, banging and scraping. All students in years 3-6 learn the recorder instrument and students in years 5 and 6 spend a semester learning the ukulele. Music transcends every culture and Sunshine Primary School promotes active participation in Music to foster understanding of other times, places, cultures and contexts.
