Our School Zone

Your child has a right to enrol at their local school. Your child’s local school is determined on the basis of their permanent residential address. Visit Find my School to locate your child’s local school. The enrolling in a school page can also help you to confirm your child’s address for enrolment.

Should you be interested in enrolling in our school but do not live in our school zone you can request an enrolment but we cannot confirm the enrolment until after we have enrolled all students that live in our zone first and have determined whether our school has capacity.

If you have any queries or questions about enroling at Sunshine Primary School please send us an email, phone our office on 8311 5700 or call in any school day, between 9:00am and 4:00pm.

Foundation (Prep) Transition Program

Our Prep Transition Program is the beginning of your child's journey to school, where they will have many opportunities to learn about our school and begin settling in. Our extensive transition program aimed at making your child's pathway from kindergarten to school a seamless experience. Our goal is to have students who feel happy, safe and excited about school. We endeavour to make this transition possible for each and every child that begins school at SPS. As each child has a unique set of abilities, needs, and attitudes towards learning this means that the transition to school will be different depending on the individual.

Our formal Transition Sessions for enrolled students are held in November.  During this time the children will be involved in activities that will familiarise them with the classroom setting and school grounds.

Buddy System

At Sunshine Primary we have a 'buddy' system in place. The student buddies are a vital part of our transition program.

The buddy system operates on an informal basis.

The purpose of the buddy system:

  • assists with student transition to primary school
  • develops positive cross-age relationships
  • contributes to a positive and caring school culture
  • contributes to more positive behaviour by providing positive role models
  • develops pro-social values and skills
  • develops responsibility
  • builds self confidence
  • develops empathy
  • promotes inclusion
